UPDATE 24th Feb
We have been monitoring the stream on the tideway for the last week. The stream has reduced and the PLA warning flag has turned from Red to Yellow. The forecast is that the flows will continue to fall this week.
Therefore, we expect that the race will run but under a yellow flag with the slim possibility of a Green. We will have a better idea if the stream is likely to go green on Thursday
WE WILL MAKE A FINAL DECISION ON WHETHER TO RUN THE J15 EVENTS ON THURSDAY NOON.
The PLA advice under these conditions is:
-
Beginners, novices, younger junior (J15's and younger), or any weaker crews, and those that do not usually navigate on the tidal section of the River Thames not to go afloat on the ebb tide.
-
All river users of man-powered vessels should navigate with extreme caution and consider whether it is safe for them to go afloat on the ebb tide.
This will mean that if the river is on a Yellow Flag we will cancel the J15 events (WJ15 8+, OpJ15 8+, OpJ154x+)
We have contacted low point crews directly to discuss the position.
